| Commissioning Art: A wonderful Collaboration
Commissioning a work of art, whether a painting or a sculpture, is a very personal and exciting adventure. You and Ed will work closely together (committees welcome) and Ed insists on a win-win experience. The process may seem daunting—but it is quite simple.
Process:
First, we meet to discuss ideas and needs. If possible, it is helpful to see the site intended for the painting or sculpture. Upon agreement to proceed, one third of the project cost is due.
Second, we meet on site or at the artist's studio to see the concepts and ideas developed. When we agree upon a design and are happy, Ed will be instructed to create the final work. At this point, another third of the project cost is due.
Third, Ed will call you when the final piece is ready (although you may have visited the "work in progress") and upon approval and smiles, the project is paid in full.
Please keep in mind that some other expenses may be incurred, but that will deepen upon scale, scope, and materials used in the project. For example, delivery, installation, alterations, and maintenance are some situations where additional costs may occur. But be assured, there will be no last minute surprises.
