“Art not Artifact”
“Art not Artifact”
One of my many mentors helped me find a valuable direction in my art. I was challenged to make art with something of value to say while lurking within the unconscious and archetypical mind. For Over 20 years I have striven to create works of art that reveal something of our humanity. In short, I try to make “Art and not artifacts”.
In this effort I rely upon Common images that I can see anew. A dog is not just a dog but a source of meaningful connection. A nude is not just a body but the revelation of interior moods, feelings, and desires. A painting of a face will make you wonder what’s going on in there and a landscape will invite you in.
